Wolves Updates 7/11

From Britt Robson/On The Ball:
I'd also suggest that Rashad McCants be watched closely. When I was at the Target Center a couple weeks ago, the difference in his movement and quickness was apparent. An upgraded McCants who can combine the explosive athleticism of his rookie year with the emotional maturity of his second season would be significant.

Kent Youngblood/Star Tribune on Craig Smith:
A strict diet and a fierce workout schedule helped him shed 14 pounds of fat and add definition. He's lighter and stronger.

From Rick Alonzo/Pioneer Press:
A typical day for Smith includes a range of activities when he's in his native Los Angeles. He sometimes plays basketball at UCLA in the mornings, followed by Pilates to strengthen his core, followed by a rest at home. Then he hits the Santa Monica Stairs, steps that climb a canyon hill and offer beautiful views but a pain-inducing workout that leave thighs, calves and lungs burning.

Alonzo writes that Smith "
also works out often in the Twin Cities, spending time with teammates Randy Foye and Rashad McCants. "

From Rick Alonzo/Pioneer Press:
Wolves guard Randy Foye said he sprained his right ankle against the Hornets but will try to play in today's game against San Antonio. Foye said he was sore and needed treatment.

On his performance in Monday's game, Rashad McCants says that his surgically repaired knee is "not really a problem."

From Mike Max/WCCO:
The Wolves believe getting better in the off-season will come through trades not free agency. The only real prospect they see on their summer team outside of the ones they've drafted is veteran guard Matean Cleaves who could possibly be a backup.

From Jonathan Kaminsky/City Pages:
Currently touring the East Coast with Bow Wow, T-Hud will be back in town next week for a big release party at First Avenue.

From Charley Walters/Pioneer Press:
The Timberwolves-Memphis NBA summer league game at 9:30 p.m. Saturday in Las Vegas will be televised by Fox Sports Net North.
