Wolves Updates 6/8

Thursday, June 14 is Medical Technology Night at the Metrodome. Young pacemaker recipient Madelyn Gilbertson will throw out the first pitch to Fred Hoiberg during the Twins game that day.

From Sid Hartman:
Among the players comprising the Timberwolves summer league team that will play in Las Vegas will be Randy Foye, Craig Smith, Rashad McCants and Loukas Mavrokefalidis. In addition, there will be: Greg Brunner of Iowa, who played with the Wolves' summer league team last year; Ryan Bowen, who bounced around the league for seven or eight years and who played overseas last year; and Mateen Cleaves, the point guard from Michigan State who has played with several NBA teams.

Jeff Gordon/Fox Sports lists Mpls/St. Paul at #6 among the top ten most frustrated sports cities.

Judd Zulgad/Star Tribune reports that, according to some TV ratings, the Twin Cities is "in the process of again ignoring the NBA playoffs."

Rash is right in that the local ratings dive for the NBA postseason began in spring 2005, when the Wolves missed the playoffs after making a run to the Western Conference finals the previous season.

But it's also clear that NBA games, no matter what time of year, just don't do it for many local viewers.
