Coach Wittman signs multiyear deal

From Jon Krawczynski/AP:
Randy Wittman signed a multiyear contract Wednesday to return as coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Terms were not immediately available, but team spokesman Mike Cristaldi said the contract was signed Wednesday afternoon in a move that has been expected since the Wolves wrapped up a disappointing season by missing the playoffs for the third straight year.

"Randy has a commanding presence in our locker room and we believe he is the best man to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves," said Vice President of Basketball Operations Kevin McHale. "We have the utmost confidence in Randy as a leader and have no doubt that he will return the organization to the prominence we had a couple of seasons ago."
