Wolves Updates 2/7

From Kent Youngblood/Star Tribune:
Wittman's message Tuesday was much more on the positive side. Monday's loss was less about a lack of effort than a lack of direction, he said. No matter who is on the court, Wittman said, he has to do more to help his players -- particularly the guards -- get on the same page with him.

From Dave Campbell/AP:
Wittman has asked his primary point guards, James and Foye, to run more of the offense than Casey did. There has been some adjustment required for them to the new coaching style and philosophy, and the always-eager Foye said he spoke with Wittman after the Rockets game, before Tuesday's practice and afterward, too.

James, however, didn't sound so optimistic about the situation when he spoke briefly to three reporters outside the locker room.

From Rick Alonzo/Pioneer Press:
Wittman wouldn't say whether he will change the starting lineup for tonight's game against Golden State. He benched starters James and Ricky Davis to start the third quarter against Houston. But Wittman did say it would be difficult to play three point guards and unfair to the players.

Jim Souhan/Star Tribune describes Ricky Davis as a "poor man's Randy Moss." Souhan also says that for Wittman, benching Davis "might be the best cure for insomnia since warm milk."

Garnett slips to #9 in this week's player rankings on NBA.com.
