Wolves Updates 7/29

Rashad McCants on the allegations against former NBA ref Tim Donaghy:
“It’s hard to trust in any of the referees nowadays, especially with the allegations and just how they’ve been trying to crack down on this and that,” said McCants, a former standout at Erwin High and North Carolina who is in town this weekend participating in Shoot for the Cure at Bele Chere.

“With the allegations of a referee cheating and betting, it’s no telling who’s doing it. You can’t really say who’s not doing it, you know. And that’s just how it goes right now, is that every call is like, ‘Are you a part of it? Were you a part of it?’ And you really can’t take sides and say who’s not and who is.”

From Ray Richardson/Pioneer Press:
Opening a youth basketball academy fulfilled a long-range goal of former Timberwolves guard Chris Carr. But the joy was marred by the sudden death of his 4-year-old daughter.

From Dime Magazine:
One of our boys who spends a lot of time in Europe on business sent us some crazy e-mails yesterday. The first one read: “Standing next to a wildly dancing Darko Milicic in a club in Belgrade right now.” About three hours later we get this one: “It was Milicic, Marko Jaric and most of the Serbian national team. The night got broken up when a fan of a local team fired 3 shots at a fan of an opposing team and hit him once in the hand, emptying the club at about 4:30 a.m.”

The Timberwolves site has an interview with former player Tony Campbell.
