Wolves Updates 7/1
From Kent Youngblood/Star Tribune:The Timberwolves enter free agency with two salary cap exceptions: a biannual and the mid-level. Last year those were worth $1.75 million and $5.215 million, respectively. So no, the Wolves don't have a lot of money to play with. But as McHale noted, neither do most of the other NBA teams.
So expect McHale to wait a while before augmenting his roster through free agency. There are other priorities to deal with.
Such as trades. While McHale continues to say Kevin Garnett will be a part of his team, he hinted strongly that the Wolves roster will continue to be restructured through trades.
Tubby Smith on Corey Brewer:
"He brings a really tough attitude. ... What can I say, they beat us a number of times," Smith said. "He's from Tennessee, he's from a very humble, meager background. He's a kid that's hungry, he's hungry to win."
Kevin McHale on whether KG will start the season with the Wolves:
"If someone calls up and says, 'We'll give you the moon...' " McHale said. "I mean, again, that's anybody in this league, everybody's tradeable. It's just a matter of what it is. I expect Kevin to be here."

Timberwolves first-round draft pick Corey Brewer, on vice president of basketball operations Kevin McHale: "I've seen some of those old classic games, and he was a rough, tough player. I like that."
