Wolves Updates 3/2

A preview of tonight's game against Utah. The Jazz is stuck in Memphis because of the weather in the Twin Cities but the team is hoping to get out on an 8am flight.

In addition to discussing how "all of this KG-bolstering is grossly overstated," Dr.Laywer IndianChief at Free Darko writes that Kevin McHale should not shoulder all the blame for the team's mistakes:

Back to McHale, though, I think dude's failures are largely a result of (a) one big organization-wide mistake: Joe Smith (KG, Glen Taylor, and others can share responsibility on this one), (b) bad luck (see: Marbury pulling a Diana Ross, Terrell Brandon's injury, and the Malik Sealy tragedy), and (c) listening TOO MUCH to KG (see: Troy Hudson's contract, Mike James, again, the Joe Smith deal).

On top of it all, McHale takes the blame for making moves that ALWAYS seemed advisable at the time...

From Kent Youngblood/Star Tribune:
After three losses in four games since the All-Star break, the Timberwolves coach mixed and matched, tinkered and analyzed during a scrimmage-heavy practice Thursday. By his own admission, he's searching for something that will get his team to click, and changing his rotation might be the way to do it.

Ricky Davis on the team getting a playoff spot:
"I think we're shooting for trying to get that sixth, seventh, eighth spot," Davis said. "We've got to win games, though, before we even think about the playoffs."

The Albert Lea Tribune wonders if "Garnett feels like Sisyphus, condemned to carry the burden of the Timberwolves year after year."

From "Don't Print That" in the Pioneer Press:
Word within NBA circles is that the Timberwolves and Toronto Raptors discussed a Eddie Griffin-for-Kris Humphries trade before last week's deadline, but Griffin's legal problems, plus his player-option contract for $2.9 million for next season, prohibited a deal for the former Gopher, who is making $1.7 million this season and is guaranteed $2.5 million next season.
